Armed units of the Philippine National Police’s strike-force, the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB), patrolled various districts of Marawi in the search for firearms and explosives left behind by the Maute group, Tuesday.

While Philippine Armed Forces and Marines continued their operation against militants in the area, RPSB servicemen attempted to round up any abandoned munitions.

Government forces are also attempting to search for families who remain stranded by the fighting in Marawi.

ISIL-aligned Maute group stormed the city on May 23. Most of the 200,000 population have fled.

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared martial law in the area for a period of 60 days.
