Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani received Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri in Damascus on Monday for talks focused on the return of displaced Syrians from Lebanon and other issues of mutual concern.
The meeting, held at Tishreen Palace, was attended by Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Marwan al-Halabi, Minister of Education Mohammad Abdulrahman Turko and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat.
Mitri was accompanied by a Lebanese delegation.
The visit builds on previous discussions between the two countries and follows up on the work of joint committees established to address outstanding issues.
Ministers from both sides began bilateral meetings covering matters within their respective areas of responsibility, with discussions aimed at identifying practical steps to address shared challenges.
The return of displaced Syrians from Lebanon tops the agenda, alongside administrative, social and educational issues affecting Syrians living in the neighboring country.
The talks are part of ongoing coordination between Damascus and Beirut to address bilateral issues through direct dialogue and specialized committees.
