Iraq has approved measures to facilitate entry visas for Syrian businesspeople in the first, second and third commercial categories, based on recommendation letters issued by the Union of Syrian Chambers of Commerce, the union announced.

Anas al-Bou, head of the union’s Joint Foreign Relations Committee and a member of its board of directors, told SANA that the measure followed the union’s ongoing efforts to remove obstacles facing Syrian traders, facilitate their access to foreign markets and boost trade with Iraq.

Practical steps to support trade and investment

Al-Bou said the visa arrangements followed economic meetings and discussions between the two sides, translating shared understandings into practical steps to support trade and investment.

The union called on Syrian chambers of commerce to inform eligible traders about the new procedures and coordinate with it to obtain the recommendation letters required to complete their visa applications.

The measure is part of Syrian-Iraqi efforts to strengthen economic and trade ties, facilitate travel for businesspeople and traders, and expand cooperation and joint investment. It is intended to create further opportunities for Syrian products and companies to enter Iraqi markets, boost trade and develop economic partnerships between the two countries.
