Iran Parliament Speaker: Israeli Regime’s Aggression Demonstrates Fascist, Apartheid Character

The Parliament speaker of Iran has expressed that the recent hostile acts done by the Israeli regime, which is Zionist in nature, against Palestinians living in the occupied territories, show the regime’s fascist and discriminatory characteristics.

At a virtual meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) on Monday, attended by several speakers of parliaments from Muslim countries, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf made a remark.

He noted that the actions taken by the Zionist regime’s forces against the Palestinian nation, especially in the cities of Jenin and Nablus, in addition to the regime’s attempts to oppress Palestinians in the occupied al-Quds and alter its population, clearly demonstrate the fascist and apartheid policies of the regime.

Qalibaf pointed out that while the Zionist regime is facing its own issues, it is attempting to conceal its internal issues and disagreements by perpetrating atrocities against Palestinians, such as massacre, genocide, invading sacred places and setting them alight.

He reiterated Iran’s long-standing commitment to the Palestinian cause, stressing that parliaments of Muslim countries should be actively involved in guiding the policies of Muslim governments regarding Palestine.

The top Iranian parliamentarian stated that the criminal leaders of the Zionist regime are attempting to deter the young Palestinian generation from reclaiming their occupied territories and returning to their homeland, and are endeavoring to eradicate the culture of resistance among them.

Qalibaf stated that, while the Iranian Parliament sees resistance as the only way to confront the Zionists’ expansionism, they also officially suggest a national referendum, which is a political and democratic plan and is in line with the regulations of international law.

Last week, Israeli forces armed with heavy weaponry conducted two raids on the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, resulting in the wounding of multiple people and the arrest of hundreds of Palestinians who had been praying at the Islamic site of third-holiest status.

Pictures of the assaults depicted detained Palestinian worshippers sprawled on the ground with their arms and legs bound behind them, as well as others whose hands were bound, being taken away in a vehicle.

Violence occurred during Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims, after a year of escalating violence in the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

After Palestinian resistance groups fired rockets towards the occupied territories, the usurping entity retaliated by launching airstrikes on Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
