Senior Hamas Official Asserts Resistance’s Stance to Retain Arms, Calls for Enhanced Ceasefire Assurances
Hamas has resolutely dismissed any initiatives aimed at disarming its resistance movement, issuing a stern caution against foreign intervention in Palestinian matters. The organization is also calling for enhanced and more comprehensive assurances for the subsequent stage of the ceasefire agreement with Israel, according to a senior representative of the group.

In a discussion with Yemen’s al-Masirah network on Tuesday, senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan emphatically stated that the group will not relinquish its armaments to external entities. He asserted, “The resistance firmly opposes any foreign intervention aimed at disarming us and seizing the weapons that the occupation has been unsuccessful in confiscating… The concept of surrendering our arms is wholly unacceptable to the resistance.”
Hamdan discussed the current ceasefire with Israel, highlighting ongoing violations by the regime. He emphasized the necessity for more explicit guarantees moving forward.
In the subsequent stage of the Gaza agreement, there must be more explicit guarantees and more comprehensive commitments, he stated, referencing Israel’s frequent breaches of past accords.
He stated that the Zionist adversary fails to adhere to agreements, and even international treaties it enters are often flagrantly violated.
Hamdan cautioned that Israel’s ongoing blockade of Gaza might herald a resurgence of conflict. “The failure to open the crossings suggests Israel intends to resume aggression against the Gaza Strip,” he stated.
He stated that employing the blockade as a means of warfare will not diminish Palestinian resistance, asserting that utilizing the siege as a tactic concerning fundamental necessities “heightens hostility against the Zionist entity.”
Hamdan criticized Israeli and US policies in the region, characterizing them as components of a larger strategy aimed at asserting military dominance over West Asia.
He stated that the United States aims to establish dominance in the region, with the Zionist entity as the cornerstone of this strategy. He further suggested that disarming the resistance would enable Israel to gain unchecked control over the entire area.
Amid continued assaults on Palestinians, Hamdan conveyed assurance in the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance. He asserted, “The resistance possesses the ability to persevere, and I am certain that the resolution of this conflict will result in the downfall of this entity.”
A ceasefire agreement facilitated by the United States between Hamas and Israel was established on October 10, 2025. As part of the initial phase, Israel is required to open all border crossings into Gaza, permitting the entry of food and aid, and ceasing hostilities in return for the release of all captives held by Hamas.
Hamas has adhered to the terms of the agreement, yet Israel has maintained its offensive actions in Gaza and has largely kept the border crossings shut, effectively hindering the flow of essential aid.
On Tuesday, Israel Katz, the minister of military affairs, announced that the regime does not plan a complete withdrawal from Gaza. Instead, it intends to set up new military and agricultural outposts in the north, signaling a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
On Monday, the Media Office of the Gaza Government alleged that Israel has breached the agreement on at least 875 occasions, citing 265 shootings targeting civilians, 49 incursions into residential neighborhoods, 421 shelling incidents, and the demolition of 150 homes.
Since the commencement of the ceasefire, Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 411 individuals in Gaza and have left 1,112 others injured.
The Gaza Health Ministry reports that the death toll in Gaza has escalated to 70,937 in the wake of Israel’s military operations initiated in October 2023, with injuries sustained by at least 171,192 individuals.
