Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has called for necessarily adhering to the strategy of resistance and intifada (uprising) as a realistic and practical option to liberate the land and restore the usurped rights.
Haneyya made his remarks in a recorded speech delivered during a festival organized on Wednesday by the Islamic Bloc at Birzeit University in the West Bank to mark the 29th founding anniversary of Hamas.
“With resistance, we have liberated part of our land in Gaza and freed our prisoners in Wafa al-Ahrar deal, and we affirm that this people, with their intifada, will not die and will remain adherent to their land, rights and holy sites,” Haneyya stated.
He added that al-Quds intifada reflected the activeness and creativeness of the Palestinian people, especially the young men and women, and their ability to stand in the face of difficult times.
The Hamas official also reiterated in his speech that his Movement would never relinquish the national and Islamic constants and would not allow the Israeli occupation to Judaize the Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem and any part of Palestine.
He also talked about the prisoners in Israeli jails, stressing that Hamas would keep its promise to liberate them through a new swap deal.
Haneyya also highlighted the importance of achieving the national unity against the occupation in order to realize the aspirations, adding that Hamas would remain committed to the national reconciliation.
