Damascus: Army Repulses Terrorists’ Attack in Western Ghouta

The Syrian army forces, supported by the air force, inched closer to al-Reihan town in Eastern Ghouta while other army units repelled the terrorists’ heavy offensive in Western Ghouta.

“Heavy clashes are underway between the Syrian army troops and Jeish al-Islam terrorists near al-Reihan town and the Syrian fighter jets have also targeted the terrorists’ gathering centers near al-Reihan and al-Shifouniyeh towns as well as Jasrin town in the Eastern Ghouta region,” a field source said on Thursday.

Also, military sources in Western Ghouta reported that the army has repulsed the militants’ offensive against their positions in Khan al-Sheih farms, killing several terrorists and destroying a tank.

Meantime, the Syrian army smashed a vehicle of the militants on Khan al-Sheih-Zakiya road in Western Ghouta, killing all the militants inside.

The Syrian army continued operations on Thursday to cut the terrorists’ supply routes between the two towns of Tal al-Sawan and Tal al-Kurdi in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus.

Harsh clashes were reported between the Syrian troops and Jeish al-Islam terrorists in Tal al-Kurdi and Tal al-Sawan districts and the army could advance in Sabidaj plant in Eastern Ghouta.

Field sources said that tens of Takfiri terrorists were killed and wounded during the operations.

They added that the Syrian army has now deployed its forces near the road linking Douma and the areas near the strategic region of Tal al-Sawan and Tal al-Kurdi which is of high importance to Jeish al-Islam militants.
