On Friday morning, the Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra) terrorits stormed the eastern perimeter of the Abu Al-Dhuhour Military Airbase, after breaking through the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) frontline defenses at the little village of Al-Hamidiyyeh Al-Shaddaad.

The Al-Nusra Front terrorits took advantage of the weak defenses on the eastern perimeter and launched a tenacious attack that initially produced successful results. However, the success did not last long, as the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) relentlessly pounded the Al-Nusra Front’s positions, forcing them to withdraw further east.

What the Al-Nusra Front was able to do on Friday at Abu Al-Dhuhour Airbase, might be their route to success in this area. The SAA does not have the luxury of an escape route like they did at Wadi Al-Deif, so this battle could drag on for months unless they are able to evacuate or surrender.
