US-israel Assault on Tehran Hospital Targets Newborns, Destroys IVF Facility

The atmosphere within the heavily damaged hospital room in Tehran was laden with dust and carried the metallic scent of recent devastation attributed to actions by the United States and the Israeli regime.

The atmosphere inside the devastated hospital room in Tehran was dense with dust and carried the metallic scent of recent destruction attributed to actions by the United States and Israel.

Amidst the ruins of broken concrete, two newborns fought tenaciously for survival, their fragile existence monitored by machines that beeped rhythmically, their lives tethered by essential wires.

In the aftermath of the recent US-Israeli offensive, which left a room clouded in dust, Iranian Red Crescent teams were actively engaged in delicate operations to disconnect the compromised infrastructure and safely extract infants from the debris.

The Gandhi Hospital located in central Tehran, together with an adjacent residential building, suffered extensive damage as a result of strikes executed by United States and Israel forces late Sunday night. This incident followed a day after the unprovoked offensive had been initiated.

In the aftermath of the attack, distressing footage emerged, showing medical teams swiftly relocating the infants from their damaged incubators to waiting ambulances.

An IVF center, symbolizing hope for new beginnings, has become the focal point of recent targeting incidents.

Hospital authorities have confirmed the widespread devastation caused by the tragedy, revealing that a specialized IVF center has been left in ruins.

The IVF center served as a refuge for countless hopeful couples who had placed their aspirations and profound dreams of parenthood into its care.

The US-Israeli actions have dismantled aspirations for future generations, which had been meticulously laid out.

Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for the Health Ministry, made a statement on his X account, asserting that the record of human rights violations in this conflict will be marked by blood and disgrace.

For the first time in history, an unprecedented scene unfolded as medical staff carried patients in their arms, fleeing into smoke-laden streets after a missile detonated near their hospital, according to Kermanpour. This incident resulted from extensive devastation following a joint US-Israeli strike on Gandi Hospital in Tehran.

The attack extended beyond Gandhi Hospital, with confirmed reports indicating that both Khatam al-Anbiya Hospital and Motahari Hospital in Tehran were also directly targeted.

In addition, multiple missiles impacted the vicinity of Abuzar Hospital in Ahvaz, a city in the south, necessitating the swift evacuation of 21 patients. Among those evacuated were patients in intensive care, and a total of 30 ambulances were deployed to transfer them to alternate medical facilities.

Images emerging from Ahvaz depict the challenging evacuation efforts amidst dire conditions. Emergency responders were seen transporting the ill and injured through dense plumes of smoke, as the ominous sounds of ongoing aerial bombardments reverberated in the sky.

The American and Israeli governments have reportedly targeted three emergency medical facilities located in Sarab, Chabahar, and Hamedan following the attack on Abuzar.

An Iranian Parliament member reported that five hospitals and medical centers have suffered damage or have been destroyed amid alleged US-Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic.

Fatemeh Mohammad Beigi, a member of the Parliament’s Health and Treatment Commission, issued a statement on Monday condemning what she termed as an illegal act of aggression, highlighting that it led to the destruction of hospital and medical center buildings and also resulted in injuries to several students and local residents.

She stated that several of these medical facilities have been evacuated due to concerns over potential further attacks.

A direct threat to the fundamental essence of life.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has condemned the recent US-Israeli strikes targeting civilian infrastructure. He asserted that these attacks on medical facilities pose a threat to essential human life while assaults on educational centers endanger the future of the nation.

This comment was made in response to a joint US-Israeli attack on an elementary school in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province, which resulted in the deaths of 171 girls.

He stated that “targeting patients and children is a flagrant violation of humanitarian principles.”

The leader of Iran has urged the global community to denounce the alleged acts of violence. Significant facilities in Tehran, including the Red Crescent building, Khatam al-Anbiya Hospital, Welfare Organization, and Motahari Hospital, reportedly sustained direct attacks attributed to both Israeli and US forces.

The World Health Organization’s Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has voiced significant concern regarding the damage inflicted on Gandhi Hospital in Tehran.

In the aftermath of the bombing, a message was posted on X expressing grave concern over the reports indicating that Tehran’s Gandhi Hospital sustained damage during the bombardment of the Iranian capital today.

Ghebreyesus emphasized the importance of safeguarding health facilities amid ongoing hostilities, underscoring their protection under international humanitarian law. He reaffirmed that “all efforts must be taken to prevent health facilities from being caught up in the conflict,” and highlighted the message with the hashtag “#healthisnotatarget.”

There is a recurring trend of attacks targeting medical facilities.

This incident is indicative of a troubling trend, as it is not the initial occurrence of Israel striking medical facilities within the Islamic Republic. In the course of the 12-day military offensive in June, almost twelve hospitals were hit, constituting a blatant breach of international agreements.

The Geneva Conventions, widely recognized as the cornerstone for ensuring humanitarian protection during armed conflicts, have been reportedly violated on multiple occasions by both the United States and Israel.

The health infrastructure in Gaza has faced systematic devastation, with medical professionals tragically losing their lives while performing their duties since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, described by some as genocidal.

According to alarming statistics from the World Health Organization, 94 percent of hospitals in Gaza have been destroyed by Israeli actions over a two-year period, raising significant humanitarian concerns.
