Swift Justice: Arms Smugglers Apprehended Just 24 Hours After Killing Three Officers, Say Police
In a swift operation, authorities neutralized and apprehended two suspects linked to the fatal attack on three police officers in Shadegan, located in southern Iran. This decisive action occurred within 24 hours of the incident, as confirmed by the police chief of Khuzestan province.
Brigadier General Seyyed Mahmoud Mirfeizi reported that the incident took place on Thursday. Police officers, equipped with a judicial warrant, had been deployed to apprehend two suspects involved in the smuggling of weapons and ammunition in Shadegan County.
The police chief reported that the suspects initiated gunfire upon detecting the officers, leading to a shootout.
Mirfeizi reported that a confrontation resulted in the deaths of three police officers.
He stated that after a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials pinpointed the suspects’ location and initiated a coordinated operation.
In the course of the raid, an exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of one arms smuggler, while a second suspect sustained injuries and was subsequently apprehended.
In a statement offering condolences for the loss of three officers, Mirfeizi assured that the Law Enforcement Command is resolute in tackling threats to public security and enforcing the law. He emphasized the unwavering dedication of officers to safeguarding public safety, even if it requires the ultimate sacrifice.
