Pro-israel Donor Encourages Trump to Pursue Unconstitutional Third Term

A pro-israel donor has openly encouraged Trump to consider running for a third four-year term, hinting at potential legal means to bypass constitutional restrictions.

A prominent supporter of Israel has openly encouraged Trump to consider a third term in office, proposing that there might be legal ways to bypass constitutional restrictions.

During a Hanukkah reception at the White House on Tuesday, Miriam Adelson, speaking alongside Trump, mentioned that she had discussed the legal aspects of a potential future Trump presidency with renowned pro-Israel attorney Alan Dershowitz.

At a recent reception, 80-year-old Adelson expressed her agreement with Dershowitz, voicing her support for the idea of a potential third term for Trump. This endorsement sparked chants of “Four more years” from those in attendance.

Addressing the audience after being called on stage by Trump, she recounted her encounter with Alan Dershowitz, stating, “I met Alan Dershowitz and told him I agree with you. So we can make it happen. Think about it.”

In recounting a private conversation, Trump disclosed that Adelson had urged him to contemplate another presidential bid, pledging additional financial support of $250 million for his campaign.

As a major political benefactor for Trump, Adelson has provided substantial financial support, notably channeling $106 million into Preserve America, an electoral organization that backed Trump’s victorious 2024 campaign. Evaluating Trump’s initial 100 days in office reveals an approval rating of 44%, marking him as the only American leader since World War II to secure support from less than half of the populace.

Trump highlighted the role of Sheldon Adelson, recalling how the late businessman was a regular visitor to the White House during his previous tenure. He particularly emphasized Adelson’s strong advocacy for Israel.

In his address, Trump addressed what he described as the “growing opposition” to Israel within U.S. domestic politics, specifically noting a change in dynamics within Congress and signaling a shift in the influence of the Jewish lobby and Israel over time.

“According to his statement, the influence of the Jewish lobby in Washington, notably Israel, was unparalleled fifteen years ago. He contends that this is no longer the case.”

He further alleged that certain lawmakers are “anti-Semitic,” specifically naming Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, among others.

Both lawmakers have consistently denied allegations of anti-Semitism, clarifying that their criticisms are aimed at the policies of the Israeli government, not at the Jewish community.

A video of remarks made by Miriam Adelson has gained attention on the social media platform X, where she reportedly discussed the possibility of a third term for Trump and indicated her readiness to contribute an extra $250 million in support. Adelson mentioned speaking with Alan Dershowitz in Israel about the legal aspects of a third term, declaring, “We can do it!.. Think about it. I will give you another $250 million.”

The 22nd Amendment of the United States Constitution restricts any president to serving a maximum of two elected terms, a limitation that detractors argue renders a third term unconstitutional.

Trump has not dismissed the potential of pursuing a third term, stating, “There are methods through which this could be achieved.”

This development follows continued protests against the Trump administration, as activists encircle the White House to present a people’s indictment against Trump.

The demonstrators assert that their consistent activities are intended to motivate millions of Americans to converge on the nation’s capital and peacefully displace an administration they label as fascist.
