On the 42nd anniversary of annexation decision, Golan citizens affirm adherence to homeland Syria

Occupied Syrian Golan, SANA- Citizens of the occupied Syrian Golan affirmed their adherence to their identity and their rejection of the Israeli occupation, saying that Golan will remain an Arab Syrian territory and the occupation will end, no matter how long it takes.

42 years since the occupation announced its null decision to “annex the Golan” and impose its laws and authority on it, and despite its attacks, repressive practices, and attempts to implement its settlement plans, citizens of the Golan are determined to face the brutality of the occupation, thwarting its Judaization plans, most recently in June its attempt to establish wind turbines on their agricultural lands.

The decision which was issued by the occupation on December 14, 1981, came within the framework of its continued attacks on the Golan and its people, which began since its occupation in June 1967, represented by the increased projects of settlements, the forced displacement of people, the bulldozing of villages and towns, and the establishment of settlements on their ruins.

The invalid resolution was met with widespread international rejection, as the UN Security Council adopted, three days after its issuance, Resolution 497, which confirms the identity of the Syrian Arab Golan and that the occupation’s decision is null and void and has no legal effect.

Citizens of Golan faced the occupation’s decision to remain steadfast on their land, affirming their adherence to the national document that they issued on March 25, 1981, which stipulated that the occupied Golan is an integral part of Syria, and that Syrian Arab nationality is an inherent characteristic of its people, as their land is sacred property, and anyone who dares to sell or give up an inch of it to the occupation is committing a major crime against his homeland and an unforgivable national treason.
