Iraqi PM: Iraq will not be used as launchpad for attacks on neighboring states

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi reaffirmed Saturday that his government would not allow Iraqi territory to be used to launch attacks against neighboring countries.

“We will not allow Iraq to become an arena for others’ conflicts or a launchpad for attacks on our neighbors,” al-Zaidi said during a police college graduation ceremony, according to a statement from the prime minister’s media office posted on X.

“Attempts to undermine our security will fail in the face of our people’s unity,” he added, reaffirming his government’s commitment to supporting and developing Iraq’s security institutions.

The Iraqi government said earlier Saturday that it had tightened security measures to pursue those involved in recent attacks on Saudi Arabia, stressing that Iraqi territory would not be allowed to be used to target neighboring countries or undermine regional security.
