Iraqi forces eliminates ISIS sleeper cells in Kirkuk

Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (Hashd Al-Sha’abi) kicked off an important operation this morning that targeted the last remnants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Kirkuk region.

In a matter of hours, the Popular Mobilization Units have already combed through a number of towns in the Kirkuk region after identifying several sleeper cells belonging to the Islamic State.

According to the official media of the Popular Mobilization Units, their troops completed their cleansing operation inside the town of Al-Rashad.

The PMU managed to uncover at least three tunnels that were filled with Islamic State terrorists inside of Al-Rashad.

The Iraqi Armed Forces are now working on clearing the last few towns that are believed to have an Islamic State presence in Kirkuk.
