Iran: Terrorist ‘israeli’ Regime Targeting Syria to Dismantle Sovereign Nation

Iran has asserted that the airstrikes conducted by the Israeli regime on Syrian territory are primarily aimed at dismantling the country's defensive, economic, and infrastructural capabilities.

In a statement released on Saturday, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, issued a firm denunciation of the Israeli regime’s military assaults on multiple regions in Syria. The attacks, which targeted and decimated civilian facilities and defense infrastructures in Damascus, Latakia, Idlib, Hama, Quneitra, and Dara’a, were met with strong international condemnation.

He stated that the overriding aim of the occupying regime is evidently to dismantle and obliterate Syria’s defensive, economic, and infrastructural capabilities as an independent nation, thereby allowing Israel to advance its contentious objectives in both Syria and the broader region.

He stated that the Israeli strikes in Syria are intended to concurrently perpetuate the ongoing genocide in occupied Palestine and continue the aggression and occupation in Lebanon.

An Iranian spokesperson has remarked that the Tel Aviv regime persists in targeting Syria’s strategic, military, and civilian infrastructures while maintaining its occupation of parts of the country’s territory.

Israeli warplanes conducted a minimum of 20 airstrikes on Friday night, targeting various military sites and warehouses across the countryside of Damascus, Dara’a, and Hama, as reported by local journalists.

On Friday, Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes in the vicinity of the Syrian presidential palace in Damascus. This marks the second attack by the regime on Syrian territory within the week.

Baghaei reiterated Iran’s firm position on the importance of preserving the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria as an independent nation, whose cultured citizens significantly contribute to the security and stability of West Asia.

He acknowledged the shared responsibility of all parties involved in the ongoing situation in Syria, contributing to the Israeli regime’s opportunities for exploitation and expansion within the Arab nation.

Baghaei highlighted the necessity for a “swift and effective” response from the international community, especially from regional nations, to halt the Israeli regime’s hostilities and aggressive actions against Syria.

It was highlighted that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation should leverage current mechanisms to urge the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities regarding the Israeli regime’s breaches of law and peace.

Following the collapse of Bashar Assad’s government in December, Syria has faced a significant Israeli occupation affecting extensive areas in the southern part of the nation.

The region has been subjected to numerous Israeli airstrikes, primarily focusing on military infrastructure previously associated with the former Syrian army.

Israeli military actions against Syria have escalated, persisting despite efforts by HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Jolani to engage the occupying authorities in dialogue.
