Iran Asserts IRGC Navy Will Command Strait of Hormuz Traffic with Full Authority

Iran's top operational command unit has affirmed that the Strait of Hormuz is entirely under the control of its armed forces and has issued a warning that any military intervention in this vital maritime passage will be met with a response.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters declared that the armed forces are managing the Strait of Hormuz “with full authority.”

The communication announced that all commercial ships, vessels, and oil tankers must exclusively navigate designated routes and secure authorization from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy.

The statement underscored the critical need for all vessels navigating the strategic waterway to adhere to established regulations, cautioning that any breach of these rules would “seriously jeopardize the security of their passage.”

The military command has delivered a strong cautionary message to foreign naval forces conducting operations in the area.

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have issued a stern warning, indicating that any attempt by military vessels to interfere with the navigation management of the Strait of Hormuz will be met with decisive action.

Iran has imposed restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime passage for global oil and gas transportation, specifically targeting vessels associated with the United States and its allies. These nations were involved in or supported military actions perceived by Tehran as a US-Israeli offensive against Iran.

The imposition of significantly tighter controls commenced following Trump’s announcement of an unlawful blockade targeting Iranian vessels and ports. This action has been perceived as a continuation of hostilities and a breach of the ceasefire terms that Trump had previously declared.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Navy has committed to implementing Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s “historic” directive regarding the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

On Thursday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy compelled an American tanker to retreat. The vessel attempted to unlawfully navigate the Strait of Hormuz, having disabled its tracking system contrary to Iran’s regulations.
