FM Denounces Trump’s Claims of Preventing Iranian Strike as Baseless
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has unequivocally rejected Trump's assertion that the United States prevented an imminent Iranian attack through new actions against the Islamic Republic.

The top diplomat issued a statement on X on Tuesday following Trump’s assertion, which was purportedly used to justify the recent aggression initiated by Washington and the Israeli regime against Iranian territory late last month.
In a recent statement, Araghchi dismissed as “sheer and utter lies” any allegations that Iran was planning attacks on the United States or its forces, either as a preventive or preemptive measure.
He added that the only purpose of that falsehood is to rationalize what he termed “Operation Epic Mistake,” a misadventure orchestrated by Israel and financed by American taxpayers. This statement refers to “Operation Epic Fury,” the alleged codename used by Washington for its military actions.
Iranian authorities have confirmed numerous casualties among U.S. forces following the Islamic Republic’s swift retaliation. The response involved launching a bold series of ballistic missiles and drones targeting American sites across the region subsequent to the initial aggression.
On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that their retaliation efforts have resulted in the displacement of US troops across various cities in the region, as those forces continue to evade Iran’s counteroffensive.
The assault was preceded by intense lobbying efforts from the Israeli government, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advancing a visit to Washington amid numerous reports of his attempts to urge Trump to initiate the attacks.
The Islamic Republic has pledged to continue its retaliatory actions, having already targeted several critical and strategic Israeli locations in the region, as long as their allies persist in their hostilities.
Reports indicate that Trump is facing pressure to devise an exit strategy amid escalating tensions that have cost Washington billions of dollars in unnecessary expenses, in addition to causing casualties.
