Syria sets final deadline for Kurdish citizenship applications

Syria’s General Directorate of Civil Affairs has set Oct. 18–29 as the final period for Kurdish citizens covered by Decree No. 13 of 2026 to complete citizenship procedures.

The deadline targets applicants who missed earlier appointments or were unable to finish the process during the second phase, the directorate said Monday.

Procedures can be completed at designated centers in Damascus, Aleppo, Raqqa, Hasakah and Qamishli.

President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued the decree on Jan. 16, affirming that Syrian Kurds are an integral part of the Syrian people and that their cultural and linguistic identity forms part of the country’s national identity.
