IRGC Chief Asserts Rezaei to Enhance Strategic Coordination as SNSC Secretary
The leader of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has praised the selection of seasoned military strategist and politician Mohsen Rezaei as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
In a statement released on Monday, the chief of the IRGC extended congratulations to Rezaei on his recent appointment as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and as the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, to the SNSC.
The head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commended Rezaei for his strategic insight and expertise in balancing both military operations and diplomatic efforts.
Rezaei was described as a distinguished and seasoned figure in the nation, noted for his strategic and forward-looking vision.
Rezaei’s inclusion in the SNSC may facilitate enhanced strategic coordination between military operations and diplomatic efforts, while also bolstering political and economic security through a lens of resilience and optimism, he noted.
An IRGC commander emphasized Rezaei’s outstanding and notable career across multiple significant roles, specifically pointing out his 16-year leadership of the IRGC, which encompassed the critical period of the eight-year Iran-Iraq conflict.
The commander highlighted Rezaei’s significant contributions, including the establishment of the IRGC Intelligence Organization, a lengthy 24-year service as secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council, his position as vice president for economic affairs, and his participation in formulating Iran’s long-term national vision plan.
Rezaei’s track record highlights his exceptional capacity to navigate and address the intricate and strategic challenges confronting the nation, he noted.
The commander expressed readiness for the IRGC to fully collaborate in furthering the Leader’s objectives during Rezaei’s tenure.
On Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei issued a decree appointing Rezaei as his representative to Iran’s top national security decision-making body.
The appointment of Rezaei has been attributed to his vast experience, notably his tenure as one of the leading military commanders during the Sacred Defense, the Iran-Iraq War, in the 1980s.
In accordance with the decree, Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Rezaei as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
Mehdi Tabatabaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Presidential Office, confirmed the appointment, stating that Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr has resigned from his role as secretary to take on a new assignment.
