Hezbollah Leader Says Iran’s Hormuz Closure Pressured US and ‘israel’ into Lebanon Ceasefire

Hezbollah's Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, expressed gratitude to Iran for its backing amid Israeli hostilities. Qassem noted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz compelled both the United States and Israel to consent to a ceasefire in Lebanon.

In a recent address, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, expressed gratitude to Iran for its backing amid tensions with Israel. He asserted that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz played a pivotal role in compelling both the United States and Israel to consent to a ceasefire in Lebanon.

In statements made on Saturday, Sheikh Qassem emphasized that the “battlefield has shown itself to be the ultimate decider.” He asserted that any effective political strategy must leverage military successes to compel the Israeli adversary into acknowledging Lebanon’s entitlements.

Hezbollah announced that a provisional ceasefire has been secured due to the resilience displayed by its fighters on the southern front. The statement highlighted that adversarial forces were unable to reach the strategic Litani River, neither within their initial weeklong objective nor after 45 days of ongoing conflict.

The leader of Hezbollah expressed gratitude to Iran for its backing, stating that the ceasefire outlined in the Pakistan agreement was made contingent upon a cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

Iran maintained that the ceasefire agreement reached on April 8 with the United States, facilitated through Pakistani mediation, encompassed a halt to Israeli assaults on Lebanon. Tehran emphasized that this condition was essential for any continued discussions with Washington.

The United States and Israel initially dismissed the proposal but later declared a 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon on Thursday. Senior Hezbollah representative Nawaf al-Moussawi remarked that Iran’s influence post-war has bolstered the group, as the ceasefire tenuously remains in effect.

The leader of Hezbollah remarked that following a ceasefire breach by the United States, Iran retaliated by closing the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global oil shipping passage. This move compelled the US to agree to the conditions and led to Israel halting its assaults on Lebanon.

Sheikh Qassem stated that Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz compelled both the United States and Israel to halt their aggressive actions towards Lebanon.

Sheikh Qassem has asserted that a ceasefire agreement must include a complete cessation of hostilities by the adversary. He emphasized that Hezbollah combatants remain vigilant and prepared, maintaining their readiness “on the trigger” due to prevailing distrust towards Israel.

According to a spokesperson, a ceasefire cannot be one-sided and must involve both parties in the conflict.

He further stated that the continued imposition of direct negotiations with the Zionist adversary, along with acceptance of the adversary’s demands, constitutes a significant affront to Lebanon.

Sheikh Qassem announced that Hezbollah stands prepared to collaborate extensively with the Lebanese government in a bid to initiate a new era focused on attaining independence and sovereignty.

He expressed gratitude to “the heroes of the resistance” for halting the progression of Israeli forces, even though the Israeli military had deployed 100,000 troops along the border.

The leader of Hezbollah declared that Lebanon will maintain its pride and strength through the unity, solidarity, and cooperation among the army, the populace, the resistance, and the government, all striving for the nation’s independence and liberation.
