Hezbollah Launches Attack on Occupied Haifa in Response to Leaders’ Assassination

Hezbollah has launched a coordinated attack on a military target in Haifa, located in what it refers to as occupied territories, using a combination of rocket barrages and a drone swarm. This assault was carried out in retaliation for the declared martyrdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which the group attributes to actions by the United States and the Israeli government.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Lebanese resistance movement declared that the operation was conducted in response to “the pure blood of the Guardian of the Muslims, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which was unjustly and treacherously spilled by the criminal Zionist enemy, as well as in defense of Lebanon and its citizens.”

The target was identified as the “Mishmar HaCarmel missile site of the Israeli military, located to the south of Haifa,” with reports indicating the site was hit at midnight between Sunday and Monday.

The movement emphasized that the resistance leadership has consistently stated that the persistence of Israeli aggression and the targeting of its leaders, youth, and civilians justifies their right to defense and retaliation at a time and place of their choosing.

The attack occurred after the reported death of Ayatollah Khamenei on Saturday amid fresh acts of aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran. The incident specifically targeted the office of Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran.

Following the onset of the new hostilities, the Islamic Republic swiftly responded with a series of at least eight significant missile and drone counterstrikes targeting various American and Israeli sites across the West Asia region. The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has pledged to continue these countermeasures until achieving the “complete defeat” of their adversaries.

The operation conducted by Hezbollah comes in response to a series of breaches by the regime of a ceasefire agreement established between Tel Aviv and the organization in 2024. This accord was intended to halt the regime’s renewed and extensive assaults on Lebanese territory.

In a recent statement, Hezbollah articulated the objective of retaliating on behalf of Lebanon for the alleged actions taken by Israel. The group described this response as a “legitimate defensive response” and urged relevant parties to intervene and halt what they termed as Israeli-American aggression against Lebanon.
