Public Outcry Erupts Over Alleged “israelization” of U.S. Police Following ICE-Related Fatality in Minneapolis

A surge of outrage erupted across social media platforms following an incident in which officers from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly killed a man in Minneapolis. This event has further fueled ongoing protests against federal immigration enforcement activities throughout Minnesota.

According to preliminary reports, 37-year-old American intensive care nurse, Alexander Jeffrey Pretti, was fatally shot by US Border Patrol agents on Saturday in Minneapolis.

The incident occurred amidst substantial protests against a federal immigration enforcement effort and represents the second deadly encounter involving federal officers in the city this year, succeeding the January 7 shooting of Renee Good.

News of Pretti’s death ignited a swift backlash across online platforms, as journalists, activists, and public figures decried the unchecked violence perpetrated by federal agents executing Trump’s immigration agenda.

Political commentator Brian Krassenstein highlighted Pretti’s career and dedication to rescuing lives, emphasizing that federal agents killed an individual who had spent his life aiding others. He stated, “No amount of MAGA rhetoric can justify agents taking the life of a man after disarming him. It represented a serious misuse of authority perpetuated under a Trump-led law enforcement approach that views civilians as adversaries.”

Bernice King, the CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, has called on Congress to completely disband the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and explore alternative approaches.

She urged legislators to implement fair and compassionate immigration policies and to ensure that these policies are carried out by individuals who value the humanity of Black and Brown immigrants. She emphasized the importance of respecting those who advocate for immigrants and prioritizing community safety.

Author Michael Jones has compared the actions of federal agents in Minneapolis to the conduct of Israeli forces in occupied Palestine. He stated, “In Minneapolis, we are observing the ‘Israelization’ of America’s police, as they have been trained to interact with fellow citizens in a manner similar to how Israelis engage with Palestinians.”

Social justice advocate Bill Madden drew parallels between ICE and the Nazi Gestapo, directing his condemnation directly at Trump.

In light of the recent actions by ICE in Minneapolis, there are growing calls for accountability regarding what some critics describe as egregious abuses. Detractors argue that the enforcement measures do not align with acceptable governmental conduct and are demanding legal consequences. The debate intensifies over whether such actions truly constitute part of official duties.

Jordan Wood, a prominent anti-corruption reform advocate, has called for accountability for individuals linked to the recent killing and urged a nationwide resistance against the administration’s policies.

In response to a reported incident in Minneapolis involving masked ICE agents and the fatality of an ICU nurse, who held American citizenship, the community of Lewiston has united in protest. The gathering was aimed at demanding an end to what they describe as lawlessness by the current Administration. Demonstrators are calling for transparency, accountability for those responsible, and an urgent cessation of violence.

Social media commentator Pedro Gonzalez voiced criticism toward Vice President JD Vance, accusing him of diverting focus from the shooting incident and labeling the response as a form of political maneuvering.

Vance is making continued efforts to reinterpret the recent shooting incident in Minneapolis. In the events as reported, Alex Pretti, who was regarded as an exemplary citizen, was tragically killed while attempting to shield a vulnerable woman from individuals whom Vance has reportedly championed with notable fervor.

BNO News released a statement from Pretti’s family, expressing strong condemnation towards Trump and the administration for allegedly disseminating falsehoods to justify the killing.

The family has strongly condemned the administration for what they describe as “reprehensible and disgusting lies” regarding their son. They assert that Alex was unarmed when he was allegedly attacked by what they call “murdering and cowardly ICE agents.”

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz issued a statement on Sunday urging the removal of “violent, untrained officers” by the Trump administration from the state.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has voiced strong criticism over the ongoing presence of federal law enforcement in the city following the death of Pretti. Frey has called on Trump to terminate the operation and remove federal agents from Minneapolis, aligning with widespread demands for federal withdrawal.
