Lebanese Unity Crucial for Triumph Over ‘israel’, Asserts Parliament Speaker Berri
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri emphasized the importance of cohesion and solidarity among Lebanon's government, citizens, military, and resistance groups as essential for achieving a decisive triumph over Israel. He affirmed the country's strong commitment to the ceasefire agreement that has been effective since November 2024.

Lebanon’s Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, expressed unwavering support for the framework established by the committee overseeing the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and Resolution 1701. In a Saturday interview with the Al Joumhouria daily newspaper, Berri emphasized the inclusion and involvement of all relevant parties in this mechanism.
The resolution that facilitated a ceasefire following the 33-day conflict initiated by Israel against Lebanon in 2006 urges Tel Aviv to uphold Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The senior Lebanese legislator affirmed a steadfast commitment to Resolution 1701, emphasizing that no other topics are being discussed at this time.
Berri underscored the critical importance of solidarity and unity among the Lebanese populace, government, military, and resistance forces as the key elements in thwarting adversarial schemes and securing a triumph over Israel.
Following approximately 14 months of conflict characterized by significant casualties and an inability to meet its strategic goals in the campaign against Lebanon, Israel consented to a ceasefire with Hezbollah. This agreement officially took effect on November 27, 2024.
Subsequently, Israeli forces have been conducting operations in Lebanon, including airstrikes, which have resulted in a breach of the ceasefire agreement.
Lebanon has declared its decision to prolong the ceasefire with Israel, extending it until February 18, as announced on January 27.
This development coincides with Israel’s continued occupation of five strategic sites in southern Lebanon, namely Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, each situated near the border.
