The Yemeni capital, Sanaa, was the scene of a significant funeral procession today for the late Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Staff Lieutenant General Mohammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, recognized posthumously as a martyr.

The gathering, known as the “Day of Loyalty to the Faithful” by its coordinators, took place at Al-Sabaeen Square and Al-Shaab Mosque, attracting hundreds of thousands of mourners from the capital and various provinces. The event saw the attendance of senior military officials and government representatives.

Demonstrators thronged the streets, holding portraits of martyr al-Ghamari alongside Yemeni flags and banners, in a clear display of popular solidarity with the Resistance and the continuous fight against US-Israeli aggression.

Abdullah al-Farah, the Yemen bureau chief for Al Mayadeen, reported on the extensive turnout for the funeral, with hundreds of thousands of citizens attending, underscoring the widespread public reverence for martyr al-Ghamari.

In a solemn ceremony, the funeral prayer was presided over by Yemen’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Shamsuddin Sharafuddin. During the event, he pronounced that those collaborating with Israeli and American forces are considered apostates and should be identified.

The Grand Mufti proclaimed that those who instigate wrongdoing or harbor wrongdoers will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people, emphasizing the need for accountability for anyone found guilty of betrayal.

Sharafuddin emphasized that the martyrdom of al-Ghamari and his comrades signifies a divine test for believers and serves as a symbol of resilience in the defense of Gaza and Palestine.

Citing the Quran, he reminded attendees that, “We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine,” highlighting that these trials underscore Yemen’s steadfast, faith-driven commitment to aiding oppressed populations.

Regional condolences have been expressed following the martyrdom of the chief of staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces, al-Ghamari. Various Palestinian factions have joined in mourning his passing, recognizing his contributions and commitment. The incident has drawn significant attention and solidarity from multiple groups and leaders across the region, emphasizing the impact and resonance of al-Ghamari’s role in regional dynamics.

Staff Lieutenant General martyr al-Ghamari, who lost his life following an Israeli attack on Yemen, had been at the helm of the Armed Forces’ General Staff since 2016. He was instrumental in defending Yemen during significant engagements, including the battles in Marib and operations in the Red Sea. Additionally, he led Yemen’s military initiatives aimed at proactively supporting Gaza and the Palestinian Resistance.

The Yemeni Armed Forces reported on Thursday the death of one of their members, asserting that “the Israeli enemy will face consequences for its actions.” Officials from Sanaa indicated that the individual succumbed to injuries sustained from a prior Israeli attack on Yemen.

The funeral held today at Sabaeen Square was a powerful demonstration of national unity, reflecting widespread public support and esteem for the general.

Grand Mufti Sharafuddin concluded his address with prayers commemorating martyr al-Ghamari and his fellow comrades. He emphasized that their sacrifice will perpetually drive the liberation struggle and inspire all resistance fighters battling against occupation and aggression.
