Report: Terrorism Claims Lives of Nearly 100 Iranians in Past Persian Year

A report released by a non-governmental organization representing the families of Iranian victims of terrorism has revealed that nearly 100 Iranians lost their lives in terrorist attacks during the past calendar year, which concluded on March 20.

According to a report released by the Habilian Association, the casualties comprised 98 Iranian nationals and two foreign citizens, nearly all of whom were male. The report detailed that 84 of the fatalities occurred within Iran, while 16 took place outside the country.

The report highlights a series of assaults by diverse factions targeting Iran and its nationals both domestically and abroad. The Pakistan-based group Jaish al-Adl emerges as the most lethal actor, accountable for 27 incidents in southeastern Iran.

The Israeli regime has been reported as being responsible for nine attacks in Syria, resulting in the deaths of 15 Iranian military advisors in what have been described as terror incidents.

According to recent data, out of the 52 terrorist incidents documented across the nation, 36 took place in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, marking an 80% rise compared to the previous year’s figures.

In contrast, western and northwestern regions of Iran maintained a relative calm throughout 2024. The report credits this stability to Iranian military operations against anti-Iranian factions in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region and a security pact established with Baghdad.

Iran continues to be among the nations most severely impacted by terrorism, with over 23,000 individuals, including men, women, and children, losing their lives in attacks since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
