On Monday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement lauding the Lebanese government’s decision to ensure all armaments are controlled by the state by the year’s end. The statement emphasized the need for collaboration to disarm Hezbollah.
Netanyahu announced that Israel is prepared to significantly reduce its military presence in South Lebanon, contingent upon the Lebanese government’s actionable measures to disarm Hezbollah. He suggested that this move presents an opportunity for both nations to strengthen stability and prosperity.
The statement indicates that the gradual reduction of troops stationed in Lebanon will be executed in collaboration with the United States.
A Lebanese individual lost their life on Monday in an Israeli attack targeting southern Lebanon, as Israeli forces continued their assaults in breach of the ceasefire agreement that concluded the intense 66-day conflict with Lebanon in late 2024.
