On Saturday, the Hamas Movement urged Palestinians to gather at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in reaction to provocative calls from settlers to increase their visits to the sacred site, coinciding with what they refer to as the “Hebrew new month.”

Haroun Nasser al-Din, a representative of Hamas’s political bureau and the head of the Jerusalem affairs office, has issued a warning regarding recent incitement campaigns, describing them as a perilous escalation against the sanctity and significance of Al-Aqsa. He asserted that these actions are a component of Israel’s intensifying religious conflict aimed at Palestinian territories and sacred sites.

In a press statement, Nasser al-Din reaffirmed the Movement’s dismissal of any efforts by the Israeli occupation and its extremist factions to enforce new realities at Al-Aqsa. He emphasized that these actions represent clear violations of Islamic holy sites and are deeply offensive to the sentiments of Muslims around the globe.

He issued a warning against any changes to the status quo in Jerusalem, highlighting the potential serious repercussions stemming from what he described as “terrorist practices and provocative incursions.” He stressed that attempts to undermine the sanctity of Al-Aqsa will not succeed in altering its exclusively Islamic identity.

Nasser al-Din called upon Palestinians residing in occupied Jerusalem, the territories occupied in 1948, and the West Bank, along with any individuals who can reach the site, to converge at Al-Aqsa Mosque. He urged them to remain steadfast for prayers and worship, ensuring the presence that would deter settler groups from making it vulnerable.

He urged Arab and Islamic nations to assume their responsibility towards the first qibla and the third holiest site in Islam, emphasizing the need to intensify efforts to counter the settler assault and bolster the resilience of Jerusalem’s residents through all available means.
