Rise in UK hate crimes after Brexit vote

British police say the spike in hate crimes in the UK following the European Union (EU) referendum was the worst on record — and connected directly to the referendum.

The vote was on whether the UK should remain in or leave the EU.

Not surprisingly, the government has condemned the offences and pledged to take further measures to tackle them, but the offences continue.
