Zionist Regime Drone Strike Kills Five, Including Three Children, in Southern Lebanon

Israeli drone strikes have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals, including three children, and injured two others in southern Lebanon. This incident marks the latest violation of the ceasefire agreement established in November 2024.

According to reports from Lebanese media, an Israeli drone launched two guided missiles on Sunday afternoon. One of the missiles targeted a motorcycle, while the other struck a nearby car carrying a family of six in the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil.

A devastating incident occurred resulting in the death of a motorcyclist, while inside the vehicle involved, only the mother and one daughter emerged from the attack alive.

The recent strike claimed the lives of Shadi Sobhi Sharara and his three children. The victims, who hailed from Bint Jbeil, were residing in the Hosh area of the Sour district.

Lebanese army intelligence reports that a drone strike resulted in the death of Hezbollah member Mohammad Mroueh, who was traveling on a motorcycle.

The recent fatalities increase the cumulative death toll to approximately 308 individuals killed by Israel following the establishment of the ceasefire agreement.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has denounced the massacre that occurred on Sunday, urging the international community to exert pressure on Israel to adhere to the ceasefire agreement.

In the midst of discussions in New York centered on peace and human rights, Aoun highlighted concerns over Israel’s persistent breaches of international resolutions, especially in relation to its adherence to the ceasefire agreement.

Trump is in New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

In a statement from New York, Aoun appealed to the international community, particularly those gathered at the United Nations, to intensify efforts to halt breaches of international resolutions, emphasizing the significance of compliance by the guarantor countries of the November 27, 2024 agreement.

He further urged nations to “exert pressure on Israel to relinquish control of Lebanese territory and comply with the agreement.”

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in a statement on social media platform X, condemned the strike, categorizing it as a “premeditated atrocity against civilians.”

He stated that the guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement should exert maximum pressure on Israel to cease its aggressive actions, withdraw from occupied Lebanese territories, and release detainees without delay.

Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar has voiced condemnation regarding the lethal Israeli strike in Bint Jbeil.

He stated that the aggression represents a blatant breach of international and humanitarian laws and norms, extending his condolences to the families of the martyrs and wishing peace upon those who lost their lives.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri reported that five individuals have died while the committee tasked with overseeing the ceasefire was in session.

The assault took place during a visit to Lebanon by US Deputy Special Envoy to the Middle East, Morgan Ortagus. Ortagus had journeyed to the Naqoura region to participate in a session of the ceasefire monitoring committee.

Following a protracted conflict lasting nearly 14 months and characterized by significant casualties and the inability to accomplish its goals in the hostilities against Lebanon, Israel was compelled to enter into a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, which took effect on November 27, 2024.

Since then, Israeli forces have conducted operations against Lebanon, including airstrikes, thereby violating the ceasefire agreement.

On January 27, Lebanon declared its decision to prolong the ceasefire with Israel, extending it until February 18.

Israel continues to hold its strategic positions in five key locations in southern Lebanon: Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all situated near the border.

In the face of frequent Israeli airstrikes and repeated violations of Lebanese airspace and sovereignty, Hezbollah remains the only military force with the capacity to confront the occupation and deter further Israeli incursions.

Amid escalating calls from Washington and Israel to disarm the Lebanese resistance group, a significant number of voices within the Arab nation argue that these demands sidestep the core issue of Israel’s persistent violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
