Zionist Military Declares Gaza Yellow Line as ‘New Border’

The head of the zionist occupation forces has declared the Yellow Line to be a new de facto border in Gaza, characterizing it as a lasting security and operational area.

Israeli military Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir announced on Sunday that the demarcation line, dubbed the “yellow line,” to which Israeli forces have retreated in Gaza, now serves as a “new border.” This boundary delineates the Gaza Strip from the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories, as per an official military statement.

Addressing reserve soldiers within the Gaza Strip, Zamir announced that Israeli forces continue to hold strategic control over significant portions of the region and plan to sustain their presence along established security boundaries.

He characterized the Yellow Line as a forward secure perimeter for adjacent settlements and an area for ongoing military operations, following the redeployment of Israeli forces under the US-mediated ceasefire agreement.

The remarks suggest that the occupation perceives the demarcation as a permanent seizure of territory and an act of ethnic cleansing, rather than a provisional measure as outlined in the previously established agreement.

In accordance with the ceasefire terms facilitated through U.S. mediation, Israeli forces have withdrawn to positions behind the Yellow Line as the broader provisions of the agreement are progressively enacted.

Zamir’s statement reveals the true intent behind the occupation: turning a provisional redeployment boundary into an established border, effectively solidifying territorial appropriation.

By redefining the “Yellow Line” as a lasting boundary, the Israeli authorities indicate an ongoing strategy of land acquisition, demographic alteration, and gradual annexation of Gaza, which serves as an extension of their wider expansionist agenda, inconspicuously presented as adherence to ceasefire agreements.

In October, the Israeli military command issued directives to enhance the physical fortifications and clearly label the ceasefire “yellow line” within the Gaza Strip. This involved the construction of outposts, two-storey sand berms, the installation of barbed wire, and the placement of yellow concrete markers. Additionally, drones and armored units were deployed in the region, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported from an Israeli vantage point, strategically positioned on elevated terrain with a commanding view of the devastated Shujaiyah neighborhood, located to the east of Gaza City. The site features a two-story berm reinforced with barbed wire, a sandy two-lane road lying beneath a smaller berm, and the persistent presence of drones in the sky above.

Reports indicate that the occupying military forces have begun positioning yellow-painted concrete blocks along the demarcation line, with military officials disclosing that approximately 10 to 20 percent of this marking effort has been completed. This boundary, established as part of the latest U.S.-mediated agreement, is being fortified with a combination of existing outposts and newly constructed positions. Troops and tanks are strategically stationed behind sand berms to enhance security at the line.

A prior report by the Wall Street Journal revealed a proposal to divide Gaza and reconstruct areas behind the “yellow line,” a plan attributed to US special envoy Jared Kushner and Vice President JD Vance.

Following the purported ceasefire, Israeli offensives have persisted, resulting in the deaths of several hundred Palestinians, many of whom are children. Reports suggest that the death toll stands between 370 and 375, with an average of eight civilian casualties each day. This situation underscores the ceasefire’s failure to safeguard the residents of Gaza effectively.

Two young brothers, Fadi and Jomaa Tamer Abu Assi, aged 8 and 11, were among the civilian casualties reportedly killed by an Israeli drone strike on November 29. The incident occurred near the “yellow line,” an unmarked boundary established by Israel, situated close to their residence in the northern Gaza Strip.
