Yemen’s army hits vessel, US warship in latest pro-Palestine operation
Yemen’s armed forces have targeted a US destroyer and a ship in the Red Sea in their latest operation in support of the Palestinian resistance and in retaliation for the US-British attacks on the Arab country.
In a statement, spokesman Yahya Saree said the forces attacked the destroyer Maysun with several naval missiles.
Also, the naval, missile and air forces of Yemen carried out a joint operation targeting the ship Destiny in the Red Sea.
The statement said the ship had violated Yemen’s ban on ships heading to ports in the Israeli-occupied territories by entering the port of Umm al-Rashrash on April 20. That put the ship on the blacklist of Yemen’s armed forces, it said.
The statement said the Yemeni armed forces will continue to carry out military operations in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in defense of Yemen’s territorial integrity until the genocide in Gaza stops.
The Arab country has launched dozens of such operations against Israeli-linked ships since October 2023, when the Israeli regime launched its genocidal campaign in Gaza.

The Yemeni forces began the operations by hitting the Israeli vessels or those heading towards the ports of the occupied Palestinian territories that could pass through Yemen’s maritime areas.
The forces gradually expanded the strikes to cover targets lying across the occupied territories and vessels sailing through the Indian Ocean as the Israeli regime refused to accede to their demand of halting the hostililties and the siege it has been enforcing against Gaza.
Earlier in May, Saree announced the commencement of the fourth phase of the pro-Palestinian operations, saying the Yemeni forces would target all ships heading to Israeli ports “in the Mediterranean Sea in any area within our reach.”
He warned the Yemeni military would impose sanctions on all ships of companies involved in supplying and accessing Israeli ports regardless of their nationality, and prevent all ships of those companies from passing through the operational area of the Armed Forces regardless of their destination.
Adding to his Monday remarks, the Yemeni spokesman said, “By God’s will, we will reach the fifth and sixth stages [of our pro-Palestinian operations] if the enemy continues its aggression on Gaza.”
