Yemeni leader: US-Israeli focus on Iran stems From Tehran’s role in blocking their hostile schemes

The leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah resistance movement says Washington and Tel Aviv are fixated on Iran because the Islamic Republic stands in the way of their broader project to dominate the region.

Speaking on Friday, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said the “Israeli enemy, with the participation of America, seeks to dominate the nations of the region,” highlighting that their focus on Iran is driven by Tehran’s deterrent role against those plans.

He described Iran’s position as “strong and steadfast,” portraying it as a barrier against a coordinated US-Israeli agenda.

The remarks come amid increasing US threats against Iran as US President Donald Trump has deployed naval fleets and other forces in the region amid ongoing indirect talks with Tehran on the nuclear issue.

Al-Houthi said the wider Muslim nation is facing mounting pressures. “The Ummah is confronted with numerous challenges and problems across the Arab and Islamic world,” he noted, warning that these challenges are unfolding simultaneously.

The confrontation, he continued, is not limited to military or political arenas. “The enemies, through soft war, seek to sever the Ummah’s relationship with divine guidance and religion so that no protective bond remains,” he said.

“Today we are facing the greatest intellectual war since the beginning of human society,” he added, framing the struggle as ideological as much as geopolitical.

Al-Houthi criticized a widespread indifference in the Muslim nations. Many people, he said, ignore the dangers threatening the Ummah, but “this negligence brings no benefit.” He warned that distancing oneself from responsibility and remaining unaware of realities is “dangerous.”

He went further, noting that the Ummah faces threats from “spiteful enemies — the Zionism with their American, Israeli and British branches.”

Regional developments, he said, have reached a “decisive point,” with efforts underway to impose a one-sided equation on the Ummah and force its acceptance — a trajectory he called “extremely dangerous.”

The Yemeni leader added that the Israeli regime commits various crimes against the Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian peoples, saying events in the region must be viewed within the framework of this imposed equation.

Turning to Palestine, al-Houthi said Israel is seeking to erase Islamic heritage in the occupied territories by demolishing sites and displacing residents.

He said that the regime is working to annex the occupied West Bank and end the Palestinian presence there, openly disregarding all agreements, including Oslo and those that followed.

He also noted that Israel has expanded the freedom of action granted to armed settlers amid increasing settler attacks against Palestinians in the past two years.

In Gaza, al-Houthi said, Israel continues its killings while maintaining a suffocating blockade that has made daily life unbearable. The suffering of people under siege in Gaza, he stressed, is severe.

The remarks come as Israeli strikes have killed more than 72,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The killings have continued despite a US-brokered ceasefire, which came into effect in October last year. The Israeli regime, meanwhile, has refrained from fully adhering to its commitments under the deal, which required it to open crossings for humanitarian aid.
