Widespread Outrage as Global Condemnations Mount Over Israel’s Devastating Strike on Gaza Hospital

Global condemnations are mounting following an Israeli airstrike on Gaza's Al Nasser Hospital, which resulted in the deaths of nearly two dozen individuals, including five journalists.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has vehemently denounced the assault on Nasser Hospital, describing it as horrific.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, Guterres urged for a swift and unbiased inquiry into the incident.

The Secretary-General has issued a strong condemnation of the recent killing of Palestinians during Israeli strikes targeting Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Among the casualties were civilians, medical personnel, and journalists, according to the statement.

The recent tragic incidents highlight the severe dangers that medical personnel and journalists encounter while performing their critical duties amidst this violent conflict, the statement continued.

UN Secretary-General Guterres underscored the importance of allowing medical professionals and journalists to carry out their crucial responsibilities without facing any interference, intimidation, or harm.

Reporters Without Borders has accused Israel of intentionally targeting journalists in Gaza and has called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to address and halt the alleged attacks on media professionals.

Doctors Without Borders has strongly criticized the Israeli assaults on Gaza’s Nasser Medical Complex, voicing their outrage over the persistent attacks on healthcare professionals and journalists in the area. The organization highlighted the alarming pattern of such assaults occurring with complete impunity.

The organization has issued a plea for the cessation of what it terms as genocide in Gaza and has urged for accountability measures to be imposed on Israel.

The assault has attracted widespread condemnation from the Arab League, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, as well as authorities in Turkey and Spain.

Canada has condemned the Israeli strikes on Nasser Hospital, describing the attack as “unacceptable” and expressing deep concern over the situation.

In a series of posts on X, the Canadian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its enduring denunciation of any violence directed towards journalists and media personnel.

The ministry asserted Israel’s responsibility to ensure the safety of civilians, which encompasses journalists and healthcare professionals, working within the Gaza region.

Canada has called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the safeguarding of civilians, the unconditional release of all remaining hostages, and a significant increase in UN-led humanitarian assistance that must be permitted to reach those in need.

The Palestinian Presidency has strongly denounced the attack, labeling it as “a new war crime” and claiming it contributes to a longstanding series of offenses and massacres perpetrated by the Israeli occupation aimed at silencing Palestinian media and suppressing the voice of truth.

The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that an initial strike impacted the hospital’s fourth floor, which was subsequently followed by a second strike directed at ambulance crews and emergency personnel.

The Israeli military has acknowledged responsibility for the assault that led to the deaths of journalists affiliated with international media organizations, such as the Associated Press, Reuters, Al Jazeera, and Middle East Eye.

The Foreign Press Association, which represents international media in the occupied territories and Palestine, has issued a statement expressing its profound outrage and shock over the incident. The organization is calling for an immediate explanation from the Israeli military and the office of the Israeli prime minister.

The association has issued a strong call for Israel to cease its controversial actions against journalists.

“This should mark a pivotal moment. We urge international leaders to take decisive action to safeguard our colleagues, as we are unable to do so on our own.”

Since October 2023, Israeli actions have reportedly resulted in the deaths of 62,744 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and injuries to 158,259 others in what has been described by Gaza’s health ministry as a genocidal campaign against the blockaded region.
