An F-18 fighter jet belonging to the United States was reported lost in the Red Sea on Tuesday after it inadvertently slid off the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman.

An F-18 fighter jet belonging to the United States was lost in the Red Sea on Tuesday when it tipped off the flight deck of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. This marks the second incident of its kind within approximately a week, according to information provided by two U.S. officials who requested anonymity, Reuters has reported.
Officials reported that a fighter jet was unable to make a controlled stop after landing on the carrier. Both crew members ejected prior to the aircraft’s descent into the water and were subsequently retrieved by a rescue helicopter, according to one official.
The Navy has yet to provide an immediate response regarding the incident. According to one official, medical assessments have indicated that the aviators sustained minor injuries, while there were no injuries reported among flight deck personnel.
In a recent incident, a fighter jet was reported to have fallen overboard from the USS Truman, a vessel actively supporting U.S. military operations against Yemeni forces.
