Trump Cuts Trade Talks with Canada over ‘Fake Reagan’ Ad

US President Donald Trump has halted all trade negotiations with Canada, accusing Ottawa of “fraudulent” use of a video featuring the late President Ronald Reagan.
Trump claimed the Ronald Reagan Foundation reported that Canada “fraudulently used an advertisement, which is FAKE, featuring Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about Tariffs,” according to NYpost.
He said the $75,000 video was designed to influence decisions of the US Supreme Court and other judicial bodies.
“TARIFFS ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE NATIONAL SECURITY, AND ECONOMY, OF THE U.S.A. Based on their egregious behavior, ALL TRADE NEGOTIATIONS WITH CANADA ARE HEREBY TERMINATED,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute said it learned that Ontario’s provincial government had created the ad using altered audio and video from Reagan’s April 25, 1987, “Radio Address to the Nation on Free and Fair Trade.”
The foundation said the ad distorted Reagan’s message and that Ontario authorities “did not seek or receive permission to use and edit the remarks.”
It added that it is considering legal action and urged viewers to watch the original speech on its official YouTube channel.
