Trump and Regional Leaders Finalize Gaza Ceasefire Agreement Amid Hamas Accusations of ‘Fascism’ in Zionist Prisons
Trump, alongside several regional leaders, signed a document at an Egyptian summit endorsing the Gaza ceasefire deal. This move was praised for securing the release of Israeli captives. Meanwhile, Hamas criticized the treatment of Palestinians released from Israeli custody, describing it as the "harshest forms of sadism and fascism."
Egypt’s leader Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan endorsed the agreement on Monday in the coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh along the Red Sea.
“This has been 3,000 years in the making to reach this moment. Can you believe it? It’s going to stand firm too. It’s going to endure,” Trump declared amidst the signing of the document.
“This is the day that individuals both regionally and globally have been working towards, striving for, hoping, and praying for,” stated the US leader.
Trump characterized the Gaza ceasefire agreement as “historic,” remarking that “nobody thought this could happen.”
In a continuation of his address, Trump declared that the conflict in Gaza, marked by years of suffering and bloodshed, has come to an end.
“Humanitarian aid is currently being delivered in significant quantities, encompassing hundreds of truckloads of food, medical equipment, and various other supplies. Much of this assistance has been funded by individuals present in this gathering,” he stated.
Trump expressed his “tremendous gratitude to the Arab and Muslim nations” for their assistance in facilitating this significant breakthrough.
The Egyptian president expressed gratitude towards Trump, alongside the leaders of Qatar and Turkey. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Gaza plan, aiming to establish a political pathway for the implementation of the two-state solution concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Following the completion of the first phase of a US-brokered agreement, Hamas has returned 20 living captives from Gaza and delivered four coffins containing the remains of deceased hostages. In response, Israel has released 250 Palestinian prisoners alongside more than 1,700 detainees from Gaza who had been held without formal charges.
In a Monday statement, Hamas described the release of prisoners as a “national achievement” and a “shining milestone” in their ongoing struggle.
The released prisoners have detailed the extreme psychological and physical torture they endured over two years, describing scenes that represent some of the most severe acts of sadism and fascism in contemporary times, according to a statement.
A Palestinian resistance group has issued an appeal to human rights and humanitarian organizations, urging them to address what they describe as Israel’s “systematic crimes against prisoners.”
On October 8, Trump announced that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas, marking the commencement of the first phase of his initiative for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
Following four days of indirect negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, a significant agreement was reached between the parties. The discussions, held under the supervision of the United States, involved delegations from Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar.
The second phase of the agreement outlines the establishment of a fresh administrative structure in Gaza, featuring a security force made up of both Palestinian personnel and troops from Arab and Muslim nations. It also includes reconstruction efforts funded by international sources, particularly spearheaded by Arab countries.
Since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in the deaths of over 67,800 Palestinians in Gaza, a majority of whom were women and children, rendering the region largely uninhabitable.
