The Collapse of West: From Sexual Exploitation to Epstein Island Scandal

Historically, societies that championed the ideals of freedom were paradoxically involved in the practice of human trafficking. In contemporary times, the consequences of such a past resonate profoundly with the revelations surrounding the Epstein scandal.

Since the 15th century, when proponents of liberalism in Europe embarked on expeditions to uncharted territories, marking the onset of the colonial era, both the exploitation of Africa’s natural resources and the establishment of the transatlantic slave trade were initiated.

Throughout this era, countless Africans were forcibly captured and traded in European and American markets, leading to economic prosperity for nations like England, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and eventually the United States. Enslaved individuals served not only as labor but were also subjected to grievous sexual exploitation by Westerners, including abuse specifically targeting children and adolescents, compounding their suffering.

James Walwin, a historian and professor at New York University, provides a detailed account of sexual slavery during the colonial era in his research and book “Black Ivory.” He describes how sexual relations with female slaves were commonplace, with young white boys often having their first sexual experiences with the black women who raised or nursed them. This led to the birth of mixed-heritage individuals who, despite having white fathers, remained enslaved within the households of their paternal relatives. For an extended period, Europeans resisted the establishment of family units within black communities, deeming them incapable of familial instincts and likening them to creatures lower than animals. It took considerable time before slaves were eventually permitted to establish family lives.

The sexual exploitation of enslaved individuals, which evolved into what is now termed sexual slavery, deeply disrupted the social fabric of colonial regions, particularly in Africa. This practice led to the emergence of imbalanced societies, both demographically and culturally, and resulted in the disintegration of existing political and social structures. Enslavement often saw young men separated from their families, while the female population remained under the dominant control of their Western European colonizers, frequently falling victim to sexual abuse. The colonialist endeavors in Africa introduced and ingrained the notions of the sex industry and “slave prostitution” into Western lexicon and disseminated these concepts globally. Consequently, a new form of slavery emerged, entrapping millions of women and perpetuating the spread of prostitution worldwide.

In a statement made at the Southeast Asian Women’s Organization conference in Malaysia in 1991, it was reported that between 1975 and 1991, a period spanning 16 years, over 30 million women had been trafficked into brothels worldwide. Ms. Vasilia Tamzali, who leads UNESCO’s Women’s Division, highlighted the enormity of the sex industry, describing it as a vast market propelled by its own dynamics. She noted that these global slavery networks are orchestrated by powerful Western mafia organizations, exerting control over the sex trade from Japan to the United States. In the 21st century, revelations surrounding Epstein Island emerged as a profound indictment against liberal democracy, reminiscent of past colonial injustices. The island, infamously associated with the trafficking of young women and underage girls for sexual exploitation, was at the center of a scandal involving Jeffrey Edward Epstein, an American financier, child molester, and human trafficker. Epstein died by suicide in his New York jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in 2019. Acquired in 1998, “Little St. James” was transformed into a haven of vice for eminent figures from Western nations, notably the United States and Britain. A sophisticated system was put in place on the island to entice underage girls, who were flown in on private aircraft under the guise of employment and financial prospects, only to be subjected to abuse and exploitation by Epstein’s elite guests. Additionally, in an effort to fuel his operations, Epstein incentivized his victims to recruit other girls, offering monetary compensation for their services.

He cultivated connections with prominent figures across the political, economic, and media landscapes in the United States, Europe, and Israel. Bolstered by their backing, he appeared undeterred by the repercussions of his actions.

Following the 2019 death of Jeffrey Epstein in prison, the FBI conducted a raid on his private island, confiscating hundreds of gigabytes of files and images. Subsequent targeted leaks unveiled a significantly more extensive and perilous network than initially perceived. These disclosures indicated that the island’s guest list comprised notable Western figures.

The Epstein Island scandals, which defy description, have shed light on how liberal systems, often portrayed as cultural beacons and advocates of human rights, women, and children, harbor networks of sexual abuse involving prominent political and economic figures at their core.
