“Preparations have been made for election and we will soon hold election at our embassies and missions abroad,” Mahmoud said, addressing the Seventh General Assembly meeting of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Unions in Tehran on Monday.
While the election will be held inside the country on June 3, expatriates go to the polls on May 28.
The envoy reiterated that the presidential election will definitely be held inside the country on June 3 under any condition.
“The Syrian government has prepared all grounds for holding a peaceful election and today, everyone is waiting to see what will happen in Syria,” he added.
Mahmoud underlined that holding a tranquil and healthy presidential election in Syria is considered as a victory for the resistance front like what was witnessed in Iraq after the parliamentary elections in which the resistance front emerged victorious.
The Syrian embassy in Tehran will open its doors to the Syrian expatriates residing in Iran on Tuesday to cast their ballots in the Syrian presidential election.
Two ballot boxes have been considered for the Syrian nationals in the embassy in Tehran to vote on May 28.
Earlier this month, Supreme Constitutional Court Spokesperson Majida Khadra said that the court has accepted the presidential candidacy applications of Maher Abdul-Hafiz Hajjar, Hassan Abdullah al-Nouri and Bashar al-Assad.
