One week after the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) High Command made the decision to restart the offensive to liberate the International Highway between Deir Ezzor and Palmyra (Tadmur), several units from the 11th Tank Division poured into the the east Homs countryside on Sunday in order to participate in this coming assault. The 11th Division units that arrived to east Palmyra on Sunday were part of a specialized armored regiment that is comprised of several T-72 tanks, BMPs, and military transport vehicles. These reinforcements will be joining a large government force in east Palmyra that is comprised of several units, including the 67th Brigade of the 18th Tank Division, the 60th Brigade of the 11th Division, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Liwaa Imam Al-‘Ali (Iraqi paramilitary).

No official date has been set for this offensive; however, it will likely come soon, given the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) pressure on Deir Ezzor.
