Syrian Army Sends Reinforcements to Southern Damascus, Advances in Strategic Regions

The Syrian army dispatched fresh forces and new military equipment to Southern Damascus, advancing in strategic points during military operations in the region.

The army forces engaged in clashes with the ISIL terrorists in Southern Damascus on Saturday, surrounding the militants in al-Ma’azeniyeh and al-Asali districts.

Meantime, the army troops advanced from two fronts South of al-Qadam neighborhood, regaining control of several farms and buildings.

The Syrian air force pounded the terrorists’ positions in Hajar al-Aswad region, leading to the explosion of an arms and ammunition cache belonging to the militants.

Field sources also reported that the Syrian army has sent a number of reinforcements, along with a large number of military equipment to its forces deployed in Southern Damascus to continue cleansing operations in the region.

In a relevant development on Friday, the Syrian army advanced from several directions in the surrounding areas of Hajar al-Aswad in Southern Damascus, forcing a number of ISIL commanders to escape from the region.

The Syrian government troops, backed by the army’s artillery and missile units, engaged in heavy clashes with the ISIL terrorists Northwest of Hajar al-Aswad region in Southern Damascus, and imposed control over several buildings in al-Joureh district.

The Syrian troops also advanced West of Hajar al-Aswad on a road in al-Madenieh region and secured control over several buildings.

In the meantime, the Syrian army troops also managed to take control of several new positions in al-Tazamon region to the Northeast of Hajar al-Aswad.

Field sources also reported that a number if ISIL terrorists, including ISIL mufti Aous Haydar, Wiam Khartabil and Kayed Qasem fled towards Yalda region.
