Palmyra-Battle1

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF), continued their field operations in the southwestern countryside of Palmyra, Saturday, targeting the last villages around the key town of Khunayfis.

Led by the 5th Corps, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the small town of Al-‘Aliyaniyah this morning after Russian jets bombarded the Islamic State’s defenses in southwest Homs.

According to the official media wing for the National Defense Forces, the Syrian military liberated Al-‘Aliyaniyah after a brief battle with the Islamic State militants this morning.

With Al-‘Aliyaniyah liberated, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies will now turn their attention to the strategic town of Khunayfis, where they hope to expel the Islamic State militants once and for all.
