The sources said that the army soldiers continued to push towards areas South of al-Manasher Roundabout, inflicting heavy damage on Faylaq al-Rahman as they attempt to link their positions to areas under the control of their comrades near Ein Terma.
The army men are also making steady progress in Jobar, capturing several buildings after hours of bloody battle with the militants, the sources further added.
Syrian Army General Fauz Mustafa said Monday earlier today that the military helicopters continued to drop thousands of leaflets over terrorist-held regions in Eastern Ghouta, urging militants to give up fight and surrender to the officials in charge.
General Mustafa said that the Syrian Defense Ministry is trying to encourage gunmen the Daamscus suburbs of Eastern Ghouta where a de-escalation zone was set up nearly a month ago to come back to normal life.
“We can see teachers and children at school, and here are militants who teach their children how to handle weapons. We ask them what they want their children to be like, like this or like that,” the general explained commenting on the visual images prepared by the Syrian Defense Ministry circulated online.
He further said that the army distributed more than a million leaflets during the hostilities in East Ghouta, adding that they also have a loudspeaker mounted on an armored vehicle.
Leaflets were dropped from a helicopter and distributed among civilians heading for East Ghouta through the Russian military police checkpoint located there.
It is assumed that local residents who are relatives or friends of gunmen can persuade them to surrender.
“Dear East Ghouta residents! Please help restore security to this district of Syria. Persuade gunmen to surrender,” the leaflets said.
