Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Regains Control of More Areas in Homs

The Syrian army continued its advances in Homs, and took back control of more strategic heights in the Southern parts of the province.

The army units drove the ISIL terrorists out of key areas and their surrounding areas in Southern Homs.

The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.

The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.

Homs

The Syrian Army troops stormed ISIL’s defense lines in Southern Homs and managed to capture more strategic heights, taking military control over a key road connecting militant-held regions in Homs to al-Seen military airport in Northern Damascus.

The Army soldiers launched a heavy attack on ISIL terrorists’ defense lines in Southern Homs and captured al-Sabihiyeh mountain that overlooks a main road connecting Palmyra to Northern Damascus and another road connecting Palmyra to Iraq.

Military sources reported that after taking back al-Sabihiyeh mountain, the army soldiers took military control over a strategic chunk of the Palmyra-Damascus road and Palmyra-Iraq road.

The sources further said that the strategic chunk of the road was used by the terrorists to attack al-Seen airbase in Northern Damascus, adding that imposing control over the road has now closed off terrorists’ only way to Northern Damascus and al-Seen military airport.

Reports said earlier on Monday that the army troops continued to hit ISIL’s defense lines around al-Shoumeriyeh mountain in Eastern Homs and managed to drive the terrorists out of more positions in the region.

Menatime, military sources confirmed that the Syrian Army troops targeted the defense lines of the terrorist groups after the latter violated the De-Escalation Zones Agreement by shelling the pro-government forces’ positons in Northern Homs.

The sources said that the terrorist groups’ missile units deployed in al-Qantou region shelled the village of Jabourin in Northwestern Homs and breached the newly-implemented De-Escalation Agreement, adding that the army’s mortar units shelled terrorists’ centers in the region in retaliation for their attack.

In the meantime, the army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL groups that attack the army positions in the regions of al-Rajm al-Aali, Tal Shiheh and Tal al-Madareh in Eastern Homs and managed to repel the terrorists’ attack after killing and wounding a large number of them.

Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops engaged in fierce clashes with Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at (the Levant Liberation Board) and managed to fend off the terrorists’ offensive West of the town of al-Salamiyah.

The army soldiers engaged in fierce clashes with Tahrir al-Sham that had penetrated into the Western direction of al-Salamiyah town form the village of Tal Dareh and al-Sat’hiyat region, repelling their attack and inflicting major losses on the terrorists.

The army’s artillery and missile units pounded heavily terrorists’ positions West of al-Salamiyah and played a crucial role in repelling the attack.

In the meantime, the army aircraft bombed ISIL’s concentration centers in Aqayrabat region and its surrounding areas in the Eastern direction of al-Salamiyah town, killing and wounding a large number of terrorists.

Meantime, a military source confirmed that the Syrian Army has dispatched thousands of forces from de-escalation zones to battlefields in Eastern Homs and Deir Ezzur to participate in an imminent operation against ISIL.

According to a battlefield source, after the implementation of the de-escalation zones agreement in militant-held regions in Syria, thousands of Syrian soldiers have headed to Palmyra (Tadmur) in Eastern Homs province.

The source stressed that the army troops and Damascus allies plan to start a special military operation in Eastern Homs to end ISIL’s presence in this part of the province and then advance to Deir Ezzur to help their comrade lift the long-standing siege of Deir Ezzur.

Aleppo

Military sources disclosed that the Syrian Army troops are to kick off a fresh round of anti-terrorism operations in Eastern and Southeastern Aleppo as hundreds of the soldiers deployed in De-Escalation Zones will soon be able to join their comrades in the Eastern part of the province.

The sources confirmed that after implementation of De-Escalation Zones Agreement on Friday, the army is to dispatch hundreds of soldiers deployed from these zones to the battlefields in Eastern Aleppo.

They added that the army will launch its fresh operation as soon as reinvigoration units arrive next days.

The sources went on to say that after cleansing the town of Deir Hafer and its surroundings, the army will concentrate on Maskanah region to drive ISIL out of the town and its surroundings.

They underlined that if the Syrian forces free Maskana from terrorists, the army men will push towards Raqqa province and will reach the regions controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces that are currently fighting ISIL in al-Tabaqa city in Western Raqqa.
