The Syrian army shot down a reconnaissance plane of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the Eastern parts of the country on Sunday.
The ISIL reconnaissance drone was shot down in Al-Sanaeh region of Deir Ezzur province in Eastern Syria today.

On Saturday, unknown gunmen killed a Kuwaiti commander of the ISIL terrorist group in Deir Ezzur province.

The ISIL commander was killed in an attack in Albu Kamal city of Deir Ezzur province while he was driving his car, local sources announced.

On Friday, the Syrian troops captured several ISIL positions in Deir Ezzur, and killed tens of Takfiri terrorists there.

The government troops also destroyed a 30-meter-long tunnel and a terrorist position in Deir Ezzur neighborhood.

A number of Takfiris were killed and some others injured in army operations in several other neighborhoods in the city.

The Syrian army has managed to inflict heavy losses on anti-Damascus armed groups in recent months.

The army has also conducted successful clean-up operations across the country.

More than 200,000 people have been killed so far in the conflict in Syria, according to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Zeid al-Hussein.

Western powers and some of their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey — are reportedly supporting the militants operating against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
