Supreme Leader’s ‘timely’ military appointments disrupted enemy calculations: Senior Security Authority
Iran's highest security official has expressed approval of a recent move by Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, to instate new senior commanders within the Iranian military. The official noted that the appointments garnered worldwide attention and unsettled adversarial strategies.

In a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei on Sunday, Mohsen Rezaei, the Leader’s Representative and Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), emphasized that the new appointments reaffirm the Islamic Republic’s commitment to the policies established in the nation since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Rezaei hailed the strategic decision to appoint six top commanders to the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), asserting that the move has thrown off the calculations of Iran’s adversaries, particularly the leadership of the United States and the Zionist regime, in his letter.
The newly appointed head of the Supreme National Security Council hailed the decision to appoint the commanders as “timely and worthy,” noting that all six commanders boast distinguished records and experience, spanning from the Iran-Iraq War era in the 1980s to the present day.
Rezaei, a former chief commander of the IRGC, extended his congratulations to the six newly appointed commanders. He expressed optimism that they would honor Ayatollah Khamenei’s trust by steadfastly addressing any potential acts of aggression against Iran.
In a series of decrees issued last week, Ayatollah Khamenei assigned Major General Ali Abdollahi to the role of Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, with Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari named as his deputy.
The Leader has named Major General Ahmad Vahidi as the Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC, with Major General Mostafa Izadi stepping in as his deputy.
Rear Admiral Ali Ozamaei has assumed the role of Commander of the IRGC Navy. Meanwhile, Hossein Taeb, a senior cleric with extensive expertise in the IRGC’s intelligence division, has been appointed as the Head of the IRGC’s Basij force.
The appointments were announced approximately six months following a joint offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran, which included the assassination of Iran’s senior military officials.
