Supreme Leader Emphasizes Protection of National Unity as Key to Recent War Victory

The spiritual leader of the Islamic Revolution has claimed that the United States and Israel, having not succeeded in their military confrontations with Iran, are now conspiring to create internal conflict within the country.

In a message delivered on Thursday, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei accused adversaries of employing strategies such as imposed conflict, economic pressure, and propaganda to foster division and social unrest. These efforts, he argued, are aimed at compensating for their setbacks on the battlefield and to undermine the nation’s strength.

The announcement coincided with the anniversary marking the inaugural session of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, or parliament, which officially commenced on May 28, 1980.

Ayatollah Khamenei conveyed his congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and the anniversary of the establishment of the inaugural Islamic Consultative Assembly to the Iranian populace and the nation’s lawmakers. In his message, he expressed gratitude for the diligent work of the lawmakers, with a special mention of Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, in their endeavors to advance the country’s progress.

The Leader characterized the Islamic Consultative Assembly as “the essence of the nation, the embodiment of religious democracy, and the cornerstone of law and legislation in the Islamic Republic,” emphasizing its critical role in reflecting the people’s will.

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted that it has been three months since the “third Sacred Defense,” asserting that the intrinsic qualities of the Iranian populace—characterized by faith, hope, and action—have been demonstrated convincingly to both allies and adversaries.

He addressed the US-Israeli offensive against Iran that commenced on February 28 and concluded on April 8, after Iran launched significant counterattacks on US and Israeli installations throughout the region over a span of forty days.

He described the position of a representative as a key battleground in the country’s advancement, calling on parliamentarians to fully commit their abilities and work in close collaboration with the administration, all while maintaining legislative independence to achieve their objectives.

He outlined the primary goals as rebuilding the nation, addressing public concerns—focusing particularly on economic and livelihood challenges—enhancing production and employment, promoting advancements in science and industry, raising cultural and ethical standards, combating financial corruption, controlling inflation and soaring prices, and achieving the complete eradication of poverty.

He emphasized that parliamentary legislation should have a clear and significant connection with the nation’s primary challenges and the people’s needs, aiming to inspire hope and construct a promising future for the country.

He expressed that lawmakers, through their roles, legislative efforts, and public addresses, have the potential to transform the parliament into an institution that fosters hope.

He urged the parliament to collaborate with the executive and judicial branches under the theme of “resistance economy within the framework of national unity and security” for the upcoming Persian year 1405. The key priorities outlined include achieving economic stability, curbing inflation, managing liquidity, enhancing production, revising the Seventh Development Plan, and incorporating measures for reconstruction following the second and third imposed conflicts.

In other developments, Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the qualifications expected of lawmakers. He emphasized the importance of upholding piety, exhibiting courage, and articulating clear and firm stances against the overreach of arrogant powers. Additionally, he called for lawmakers to maintain a keen and revolutionary awareness of Iran’s evolving status both regionally and globally.

He emphasized that one of the expressions of devotion is “safeguarding the tremendous blessing of national unity and exceptional cohesion afforded to the vigilant nation under the banner of Islamic Iran, which stands as a key factor in triumph over the so-called Great Satan,” referencing the United States.

Expressing appreciation for the gift, he emphasized the need for all citizens, particularly the intellectual and political elites and members of parliament, to focus on preserving national unity and steer clear of “superficial” political disagreements and the accentuation of societal divisions.

He urged all those who hold dear the principles of Islam, the Islamic Revolution, or Iran’s sovereignty and honor, to intensify their efforts in preserving the nation’s unity. He emphasized the importance of preventing disagreements from evolving into conflicts and divisions, urging individuals to embody the nation’s cohesion and solidarity through both their words and actions.

The Leader concluded by expressing hopes for the lawmakers’ success in the important task of representing a resilient nation that has steadfastly opposed oppression and aggression, steering history toward its rightful path.
