Strait of Hormuz Maintains Status as World’s Most Strategic Zone

A senior figure within the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) emphasized that the significance of the Strait of Hormuz in global affairs cannot be understated, underscoring Iran's crucial role in maintaining security across this vital energy passageway.

In a statement reported by Mehr News Agency, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi, Deputy Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), highlighted the enduring commitment to preserving revolutionary values across generations as a key goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Speaking at an event in Hormozgan Province, he underscored the IRGC’s strong ties with the public and characterized its service-oriented efforts as a constant and devoted form of worship.

Fadavi underscored Hormozgan’s strategic significance, citing its pivotal location on the Strait of Hormuz, and described it as one of Iran’s most vital regions. According to Fadavi, the province is instrumental in providing operational and support functions for the IRGC’s land, sea, and air missions.

According to Fadavi, the IRGC has become more involved in civilian development projects, such as water supply, agriculture, construction, watershed management, and the restoration of traditional qanat systems. These initiatives have reportedly intensified in recent years.

Fadavi highlighted that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Hormozgan is actively involved in both operational and support functions across various sectors including naval, ground, and aerial missions. He further emphasized that these units are directly participating in public service activities and mission deployments throughout the province.

A key figure underscored the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as the world’s most crucial geographic zone. He noted that over 20 million barrels of oil traverse this vital waterway daily, emphasizing that the global demand for energy sourced from the Persian Gulf is on an upward trajectory and is poised to expand in the future.

According to Fadavi, Iran and Qatar possess the world’s second and third largest natural gas reserves, respectively. He emphasized that the significance and strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be undermined by any country.

He highlighted the role of the IRGC in safeguarding this crucial corridor via its air, land, and naval forces.

Fadavi issued a stern warning about the continuous attempts by Iran’s adversaries to destabilize the region. He stated that should the United States threaten Iran’s security, the IRGC would respond “with full force.”

He stated that Iran has persistently endeavored to uphold security in the Persian Gulf, highlighting that the region’s resources remain a crucial pillar of prosperity for the Iranian nation.
