Soleimani’s Hometown Gathers to Commemorate His 6th Martyrdom Anniversary

Early Saturday, a multitude of mourners gathered at Martyr Soleimani’s burial site to honor the late military general on the sixth anniversary of his assassination by the United States. The commemorative event peaked at 1:20 a.m. local time, marking the exact moment he was killed in a US drone strike near Baghdad, Iraq.
Participants demonstrated their opposition to the United States and Israel by chanting slogans and waving flags. They reaffirmed their commitment to Soleimani’s ideology, which underscores resistance against oppression and tyranny.
General Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was instrumental in the defeat of the Daesh terrorist organization in the West Asian region, most notably in pushing them out of Iraq by December 2017. On January 3, 2020, Soleimani and Iraq’s top anti-terrorism official, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were killed in a U.S. drone strike authorized by Trump, near Baghdad International Airport.
General Qassem Soleimani was interred in his hometown of Kerman, marking the conclusion of the funeral proceedings.
