Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, emphasized the integral unity of Lebanon, asserting that each part of the nation contributes to its entirety. He further stated that the future is in the hands of those who own the land.
“Resistance leads to reclaiming the land, while negotiations result in its loss.”
In a televised speech broadcasted on Al-Manar during the launch of the “Ardi” Exhibition showcasing traditional Lebanese cuisine in Beirut’s Dahieh, Sheikh Qassem praised the market as an innovative and productive concept. He extended his gratitude to the Jihad Al-Binaa Foundation for their dedication in bringing this initiative to fruition.
“The market participants are comprised of individuals from the region—both those who have returned to South Lebanon and those currently holding firm on the frontlines, harvesting the land’s bounty.”
“The olive harvesters on the border frontlines represent the true custodians, steadfast in their connection to the land within the unified territory known as Lebanon,” his eminence remarked.
Sheikh Qassem emphasized the importance of the land, describing it as a blessing that must be safeguarded. He stated that the responsibility to preserve and rejuvenate it is a duty. He highlighted that the agricultural and industrial initiatives, spearheaded by Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, are designed to counter external pressures and promote self-reliance.
The Jihad Al-Binaa Foundation is actively engaging in initiatives aimed at supporting farmers, according to available reports. Concerns have been raised over the apparent lack of governmental involvement in both the agricultural and industrial sectors. Efforts have been urged towards establishing effective marketing strategies to minimize intermediaries between producers and consumers.
Sheikh Qassem expressed concern over the allocation of a mere 0.45% of Lebanon’s state budget to the agricultural sector. He urged the government to bolster its support for the key productive sectors of industry and agriculture.
Politically
Sheikh Qassem has accused the United States of America of failing in its role as an impartial mediator in Lebanon, suggesting that the nation acts instead as a supporter of aggression and its propagation.
Hezbollah’s leader suggested that Israeli offensives intensify with the announcement of each visit by an American envoy, in the midst of persistent pressures.
He highlighted that U.S. statements frequently justify actions by ‘Israel’ and depict it as a nation acting diligently, whereas Lebanon is held accountable and pressured to compromise its sovereignty, autonomy, and independence to cater to ‘Israel’s’ demands.
The United States’ stance on the reported 5,000 acts of aggression against Lebanon remains an issue of contention, as there are claims that the U.S. routinely offers justification for these infractions.
Sheikh Qassem stated that following President Aoun’s call to address the assaults, an American official alleged that the military was supporting the Resistance. He questioned, “Has defending the nation become a crime?”
The United States is being questioned about its position regarding recent events involving the killing of civilians by Israeli forces, the destruction of facilities, the incident in the town of Blida, and the assassination of Salameh, who is being referred to as a martyr.
Sheikh Qassem declared that the assault on the town of Blida is an overt act of aggression without any justification. He underscored that Israeli actions against Lebanon are a component of a broader campaign aimed at civilians, their means of sustenance, and their right to repatriate to their communities.
His eminence emphasized that the United States has not provided Lebanon with any assistance.
Sheikh Qassem declared that attempts at intimidation will not alter their stance, asserting a resolute rejection of surrender or imposed conditions. He emphasized the unbreakable bond with their land, which, he claims, surpasses any formidable military force.
Sheikh Qassem has raised concerns regarding the United States’ position on various incidents affecting Lebanon, including the killing of Lebanese civilians, the destruction of agricultural infrastructure, and territorial incursions. He particularly highlighted the major incident in the town of Blida, where a martyr was reportedly assassinated within an official institution.
The recent actions were deemed an affront to Lebanon’s sovereignty and national dignity. Sheikh Qassem underscored that threats and pressure will not alter the resolve of those backing the resistance and resilience, firmly rejecting any notion of capitulation and defeat.
He emphasized that the bond between the Lebanese people and their land surpasses any military might of their adversaries, regardless of its strength. “The sacrifices made stand as a collective trust and serve as a bridge to the future for upcoming generations.”
“Israel may have the capacity to take lives, yet it cannot extinguish the spirit of dignity within us. It has the power to occupy, but perpetuating its occupation indefinitely is not guaranteed. While Israel may carry out bombings sporadically, it cannot erase our deep-rooted love for the land, our strong bond with it, nor our desire for independence, which remain steadfast in our hearts and our lives.”
Sheikh Qassem addressed partners in Lebanon, urging them to recognize that assisting the Lebanese diaspora is tantamount to supporting the nation itself. He clarified that while their support is not being solicited, he implores them to refrain from actions that may undermine their efforts.
Sheikh Naim Qassem highlighted the crucial role of the Lebanese government in securing national sovereignty through the expulsion of the Israeli forces, land liberation, reconstruction efforts, and the release of prisoners. He emphasized that accomplishing these objectives is key to ushering in stability and prosperity, thus facilitating the resolution of Lebanon’s challenges in a seamless manner.
Sheikh Qassem articulated that achieving consensus among the Lebanese is attainable and uncomplicated. However, he emphasized that they reject any imposition of directives from external entities and oppose any influence that would mold Lebanon in the likeness of other nations.
He asserted that it is the state’s responsibility to monitor and address Israeli aggression and violations against Lebanese sovereignty.
Sheikh Qassem lauded the decision of President Joseph Aoun to instruct the army to counter Israeli incursions. He emphasized that such positions from the three presidents, ministers, and state officials establish a foundation that can be further developed.
The government bears the responsibility of expelling adversaries, safeguarding national sovereignty, and halting infringements. Trump’s approach to the issue is deemed responsible. The collective positions of three leaders, along with various officials, are seen as constructive, fostering a unified front. The call is to bolster this unity further.
Sheikh Qassem has urged the government to formulate a strategy enabling the army to counter Israeli aggression. He emphasized that Lebanon is confronting significant threats stemming from American aggression and Israeli expansionist policies.
The core of patriotism is rooted in sovereignty, independence, and freedom. The objective of the Resistance is to safeguard the land and liberate the nation. It is incumbent upon every individual in Lebanon to shoulder the responsibility of opposing the occupation in accordance with their respective roles and duties.
His eminence asserted that offering justifications for Israeli aggression only serves the interests of the enemy, and emphasized the need for some to cease providing such excuses and pretexts.
Lebanon has made it clear that any new agreement perceived as undermining its defenses or facilitating aggression will be categorically rejected. The nation insists on the implementation of existing agreements by Israel and refuses to weaken its strategic position.
It is significant to remark that this year’s edition of the exhibition occurs in the aftermath of a significant Israeli offensive on Lebanon in the autumn of 2024. The attack targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, as well as the south and Bekaa regions, resulting in the destruction of numerous civilian infrastructures, including the Sayyid al-Shuhada complex, the venue for the exhibition’s events.
