Damascus has defeated the oppressor front that supports terrorism, giving a very good lesson to the whole world, secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council said Sunday.
“Syria has proved its might and resistance power and today everyone has been convinced that if the ISIS hegemony would have been established in Syria, other regional countries, such as Lebanon and Jordan, too, would have been on the forefront of the ISIS attacks,” said Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani in an interview with Lebanon’s Al Ahd news website. The SNSC secretary stressed that reconstruction of the destroyed Syrian regions must be considered a high priority.
Iran committed to promise made to Lebanese Army
Shamkhani reiterated that Iran has remained committed to the promise it has made to the Lebanese Army on gifting a consignment of military contributions to that country to be used in anti-terrorist campaign.“Serious talks were made in the course of the Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Muqbil’s visit of Tehran in that respect,” he said.
The SNSC secretary said that some countries that had previously talked about assisting the Lebanese Army and contributing to it have not kept their promises so far.
“Iran will not hesitate a second for forwarding its contribution to the Lebanese Army if the Lebanese side will demand it,” he added. We consider it’s a necessity to assist the Lebanese Army for campaign against terrorism, which is today very close to its borders,” said Shamkhani.
He expressed surprise over some opponents’ comments against the Iranian military gift, adding, “Opposing the Iranian support and contribution to the Lebanese Army reveals a truth about the real intention of the opponents, and that is serving the interests of the Zionist enemy.’
